Frequently asked questions
What coaches ask most often before they commit a program. Still have a question? Contact us.
When is the 2027 team camp?
Two three-day sessions run back to back in the same week: Session 1 is July 25–27, 2027 (Sun–Tue) and Session 2 is July 28–30, 2027 (Wed–Fri). The two sessions are identical in format and price.
Who is this camp for?
High school girls tennis programs that want competitive dual-match play before their season starts. Teams register as a unit with their own head coach; we do not take individual campers.
How much does it cost?
$4,500 per team, per session. That covers eight players and one head coach — two nights of campus housing, five meals, all match play and training, court fees, balls, an athletic trainer on site, and a camp shirt for all nine. A $500 deposit holds your spot and the balance is due 30 days before camp.
How many teams are in each session?
Nine. Spots go first-come, first-served, and once a session fills we start a waitlist — get in touch and we will add you.
How many matches will my team actually play?
Four duals guaranteed, plus flight play on the final morning. Each dual is six singles and three doubles, so a full travelling roster plays roughly 24 singles matches and 12 doubles sets across the three days.
What are the match formats?
In the opening blocks, singles are best 2 of 3 sets to 4, no-ad, with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set, and doubles are one set to 6, no-ad. Day 3 flight finals are played with singles as a best 2 of 3 sets to 6, with a match tiebreak for the third, and doubles become an 8-game pro set. See the format sheet for the full breakdown.
How is the draw made, and how does seeding work?
Draw positions for the opening rounds are assigned at the head coaches meeting on Day 1, and no team meets the same opponent twice. After the third round the field is seeded on dual points won, then head-to-head, then individual matches won, then games won. Seeds post mid-afternoon on Day 2, and the field splits into Gold (1–3), Silver (4–6), and Bronze (7–9) flights, each a full round robin.
Can I bring more than eight players?
Yes — up to 12 players. Additional players are $450 each. An additional coach is $175 for a single room. Add them at registration or later from your dashboard.
Do I have to submit my roster when I register?
No. Registration only needs your program, your coaching staff, and how many people are travelling. Rosters, lineup order, and player paperwork go in from your coach dashboard any time before the deadline — so you can commit to a session before your summer roster is settled.
Where do teams stay, and are meals included?
Teams stay on the UNC campus for two nights — players in double-occupancy rooms, the head coach in a single on the same floor. Five meals are included: dinner on Day 1, all three on Day 2, and breakfast on Day 3. Tell us about dietary needs or allergies ahead of time and we will coordinate with the campus dining team.
Who supervises the players?
Your own coaching staff. This is a team camp — players travel with, room near, and are supervised by their program's coaches. A certified athletic trainer is on site for the full camp, and camp staff run the competition and the training blocks.
Where is the camp held?
The Chewning Tennis Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill — 18 courts, with indoor courts on site.
What happens if it rains?
Play moves indoors and the schedule absorbs it. Block times may shift for rain or extreme heat; camp staff will let coaches know on site.
What does a day look like?
Day 1 is late-morning check-in, a head coaches meeting, then two dual blocks before dinner. Day 2 opens with a training block and the third dual, seeds post mid-afternoon, and the flights open with two more blocks. Day 3 is flight finals, awards, a team photo, and check-out by 1:00pm. Day-by-day timings are on the format page; the detailed run sheet is handed out at the coaches meeting.
Is there coaching, or is it only match play?
Both. Each day there will be demos from the coaching staff highlighting actual drills the UNC team implements in practice. Current UNC student-athletes work the courts alongside the camp staff.
Can our coaches coach during matches?
Yes. Dual matches are coached — that is much of the point. Your staff works the courts the way they would in a season dual.
What paperwork do we need?
Before check-in each program submits a final roster with lineup order, player medical or physical forms, proof of school or family insurance, and a signed camp liability release for every player. All of it is tracked per player on your coach dashboard.
How do we pay?
Online by card. A $500 deposit reserves your spot at registration, and you can pay the balance any time from your dashboard up to the 30-day deadline. Receipts are emailed automatically. If your school needs to pay by check or purchase order, contact us and we will set it up.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 60 days out for a full refund minus the $500 deposit. Inside 60 days the deposit is non-refundable, but your spot may be transferred to another program.
Can we register for both sessions?
A program can only take one spot per session, but schools are able to enter both weeks.
What should players bring?
On court:
- Tennis shoes (no running or black-soled shoes)
- Two racquets, if possible
- Grip tape or string (optional)
- Sun protection — visor or cap and sunscreen
- Court towels and a water bottle
- Clean match clothes for three days
- Bed linens (Twin XL), light blanket, pillow
- Toiletry items
- Casual clothes and shoes for the evenings
- Alarm clock or watch
Who runs the camp?
